That feeling when you pop a couple of coins into a charity donation box...you could be feeling at your absolute lowest, but after parting ways with a few pennies, the day is a little brighter for you.

You could have that same feeling every month, without even lifting a finger. What if you set up a direct debit transaction that transferred 1% of your salary to a charity of your choosing on payday?

That would mean every month you get that standard happy feeling of payday, and also in the knowledge that you've helped a charity at the same time.

Although a direct debit transaction isn't exactly a public act of kindness like a donation box is, you could always pop a post about your kind gesture on social media. Who knows, you might encourage some of your friends and family to join in on the effort-free donations!

Cost benefit to society

Donating 1% of your salary for a year would mean that all of that money would be contributing to work of charities and good causes across the UK. This cost benefit calculation is based on taking 1% of the average salary across the UK job market as an average donation a charity or good cause.
